Why choose doctoral studies at our faculty?

Choosing the right institution for doctoral studies is one of the most significant decisions in any researcher’s career. Our new PhD Programme Booklet, available in English, provides answers to all the questions prospective doctoral candidates may have. We focus not only on theory but also on how to connect your postgraduate studies with current societal challenges. You can read more about our doctoral programmes here.

Whether you have just completed your Master’s degree (or are considering it as part of our other programmes), a PhD is the ideal path for advancing your academic career. Our programmes are designed to build upon the foundations laid during undergraduate or professional studies, transforming the advanced knowledge gained at the Master’s level into independent scientific research.

World-class professors and mentors at your fingertips

A special section of the new booklet is dedicated to our mentors. The professors at SASS are more than just lecturers; they are your mentors on the journey toward earning your PhD. The guide provides detailed profiles of mentors for both of our programmes: Sociology and Psychosocial Studies and Strategic Communication and Management.

In the booklet, you can find the following for each mentor:

  • Areas of Expertise: A detailed overview of the topics covered by the mentor (e.g., social psychology, methodology, strategic management).
  • CV and Bibliography: An overview of their academic career and key scientific publications that demonstrate their expertise.
  • Current Research Projects: Insight into the mentor’s ongoing work, which doctoral students can actively join.
  • International Cooperation: Information on our professors’ involvement in global research networks.
  • Language of Mentoring: Details on the languages available for supervision, which is essential for our international environment.
  • Direct Contact Details: Each profile includes the mentor’s direct email address to encourage early communication and the alignment of research ideas.

The booklet serves as a comprehensive resource, opening doors to direct collaboration with established experts within both doctoral programmes offered at the School of Advanced Social Studies (SASS). It provides a clear insight into how your doctoral research aligns substantively and practically with the work carried out in our research centres under the guidance of experienced mentors.
