Master’s Study

A Master’s programme is the 2nd cycle of higher education, building on the knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level. It is intended for those who wish to deepen their professional understanding, develop analytical and strategic competences, and gain better opportunities for employment or career advancement. At SASS, Master’s programmes are highly accessible for working professionals due to their flexible structure. Their diversity and strong practical orientation make them attractive to people from various backgrounds.

Master’s programmes typically last two years (four semesters) and comprise 120 ECTS credits. You complete your studies with a Master’s thesis and obtain the title of Master in the relevant field. After graduation, you may continue to the doctoral level.

A Master’s programme enables a deeper understanding of your chosen field and equips you for independent research, critical evaluation and strategic thinking. It includes more seminar and research work, cooperation with employers and the development of leadership skills. It is a level of study that prepares you for higher-level professional roles.

Yes. You can study full-time and free of charge even while employed. The programmes Intercultural Management and Media and Journalism are structured to support the balance between study and work — with schedules adapted for working professionals, often including afternoon or weekend lectures. Full-time study in these programmes is funded from public sources, which means that no tuition fees apply*.

* This applies to citizens of EU member states as well as citizens of countries with which the Republic of Slovenia has concluded an agreement. These countries are: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo, in case they have not yet completed that level of studies, and have not used up to two free enrolment at that level.

Yes. Master’s programmes at SASS are accredited in accordance with the Bologna guidelines and enable continuation to doctoral studies both in Slovenia and abroad — including SASS’s own doctoral programme.

Both study programmes focus on counselling and psychosocial support. However, the first is more broadly oriented towards working with individuals and groups in various environments, while the second is specifically focused on supporting athletes, coaches and sports teams.
