Responsibilities of the Internship Academic Supervisor (Professor at SASS) and Mentor in the Organisation

Internship Academic Supervisor (Professor at SASS)

• The internship supervisor plays a key role in the successful implementation of practical training.
• Before the start of the internship, the academic supervisor informs students about its purpose, objectives, and their rights and obligations.
• They also provide instructions for preparing the Student Report, which includes an overview of achieved objectives, acquired competencies, and the required forms.
• The academic supervisor communicates all details to students during introductory meetings or publishes the instructions in the Moodle online classroom.

Mentor in the Organisation

The mentor is a professionally qualified staff member of the organisation selected by the internship provider.
The mentor acts as a bridge between theory and practice—ensuring that the student successfully transfers the knowledge gained at the faculty into the working environment.

Responsibilities of the Mentor

During the internship period, the mentor performs several important tasks:

• familiarises themselves with the internship curriculum and ensures that it is fully implemented
• professionally and responsibly transfers knowledge and experience to the student
• creates a supportive and educationally rich working environment
• confirms the attendance record and completed tasks (Form DP02)
• proposes an assessment of the student’s knowledge and performance (Form DP03)
• participates in meetings and training sessions organised by the faculty

1. Choosing the Internship Placement

Students may choose an internship placement in one of two ways:

• From the published list of partner organisations for internships: Select from organisations that have been pre-approved by the faculty and are published on the faculty website.
• Proposing their own placement: A student may independently find an organisation where they wish to complete the internship. In this case, the proposed placement must:
  • be relevant to the student’s field of study
  • include the prescribed number of hours
  • enable the achievement of the internship objectives

2. Submitting the Application

The student submits the application for the internship through the Web Office (tab Internship) no later than 30 working days before the start of the internship. It is recommended that the student initiates first contact with the organisation, explains the purpose of the internship, and agrees on the dates and the mentor.

3. Approval and Signing of the Agreement

Once submitted, the application is reviewed and approved by the academic supervisor. When the internship is approved, the student sends the agreement to the internship provider for signature. The agreement must be signed before the start of the internship, as students cannot begin practical training without a signed agreement.

Who Can Apply?

Students who already have relevant work experience.

Legal Basis

Recognition is carried out in accordance with the “Rules on the Procedure and Criteria for the Recognition of Non-Formally Acquired Knowledge and Skills at SASS” available on Regulations page. Before submitting the application, students must consult the academic supervisor.

The application for recognition – the form must be submitted in Moodle under Submission of Applications for the Student and Academic Affairs Commission (KŠŠZ).

What Should I Attach to the Application?

• A confirmation from the organisation regarding the practical training/work performed in a specific role
• A description of the tasks carried out in that position
• The duration and scope of the training/work, including the period during which the position was held

Possibility of Completing the Internship Abroad

Students may complete their internship abroad within the framework of published student mobility programmes (Erasmus, CEEPUS, etc.). The internship is carried out in accordance with the rules of the host organisation abroad and the rules of the mobility programmes.

The Learning Agreement for Traineeships replaces the standard internship agreement. Students must attach basic information about the host organisation and the internship plan to their application for completing the internship abroad. The internship plan must be approved by the academic supervisor at the home faculty.

Internships abroad within mobility programmes are carried out in line with the fundamental principles, commitments, and guidelines of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), the Erasmus+ strategy of SASS (Erasmus Policy Statement), and other relevant documents that guide the faculty’s internationalisation and international activities.
