MELI MODULE – Media Literacy Module For Active Citizens
Project Focus
The MELI MODULE project (Jean Monnet Module) is a teaching program that addresses media literacy as a foundation for active participation in modern digital societies. The module tackles the increasing exposure of EU citizens to disinformation and fake news in digital media. Its main objectives are to build resilience against this phenomenon, raise awareness of policies concerning the EU Digital Single Market, and encourage research on active citizenship among young researchers.

Short description of the project:
Jean Monnet The MEDIA LITERACY FOR ACTIVE CITIZENS module is a teaching program that deals with the topics of the conditions of active participation in modern digital societies. It addresses the increasing exposure of EU citizens to disinformation and fake news in digital media and the corresponding need to build resilience against this phenomenon. It informs students of the Media and Journalism study program about policies in the field of the single digital market in the EU, with a special emphasis on issues of media literacy, dealing with the challenges of online disinformation and active EU citizenship. Within the module, we encourage research and first teaching experience for young researchers, scientists and workers related to European Union issues, as well as the publication and dissemination of our research.
