Success Stories of Our Graduates

“Enrolling at the faculty was one of the best decisions of my life. It sounds ‘clichéd,’ but it is very true. Those who know me are aware that I gladly recommend it to everyone considering this type of study. At FUDŠ, I wasn’t just a number, but a person with a name, which exceeded my expectations and created a pleasant, welcoming environment. Crucially, I gained core competencies, such as openness, integrity, and empathy, which I successfully use today in my work with children at the Institute for Child Protection.” — Jerica Okorn

What do you gain by studying Psychosocial Support?

The study programme enables you to become a professional in the field of psychosocial support and assistance — an officially recognised qualification listed in the national register of occupations and increasingly sought after on the labour market. During your studies, you will acquire broad knowledge in psychology, social work, communication, and counselling, and learn how to provide effective professional support to individuals in various life distress situations.

The programme is strongly practice-oriented and includes practical training in different institutions, carried out under professional supervision. This allows you to build experience and competencies already during your studies, which you will later apply in your professional work. The programme emphasises personal growth, learning through practice, and the integration of theory with real-life human experience.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the graduate obtains a qualification that — provided that other legal conditions are met — enables them to take the professional examination for work in the field of social care.

You gain broad knowledge in the field of psychosocial support: understanding human behaviour, mental health, social distress, and the processes of non-directive counselling. You learn how to provide professional and ethical support to people in various life circumstances.

The programme includes mandatory practical training carried out under the mentorship of experienced professionals. This gives you direct insight into real work environments and helps you develop confidence in counselling practice.

Part-time study, with a sufficient number of enrolled students, is carried out both in Ljubljana and Nova Gorica, with additional flexibility offered through the Study+ Support package, which enables hybrid remote study.

Graduates of the programme can work in various areas of psychosocial support: in social institutions, educational settings, non-governmental organisations, preventive programmes with different target groups, and in various psychosocial support projects. The programme also enables graduates to take the Social Care Professional Examination, which can further increase employment opportunities.
