Andrej Koren holds a PhD in educational leadership at the Manchester Metropolitan University. The areas of his research work are theory of organizations, policy analysis, leadership and quality. He was a headteacher of Compulsory school for 17 years. From 1995 until 2016 he has been the director of the National School for Leadership in Education, and has had leading positions in different national and international bodies in the field of education. Within his years of leadership experiences, he was actively involved in processes of modernization and decentralization of Slovenian school system. He is involved in many national, European, OECD and US AID projects on leadership and quality in education and implementation of Effective School Improvement processes. The areas of his research work are theory of organizations, policy analysis, leadership and quality. He completed his PhD on Decentralization – Centralization and Autonomy in the Slovenian School System: a Case Study of “Constructed” Views at the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
