Curriculum Vitae:

Maja works in the fields of psychology, education, and psychotherapy, where she integrates scientific research with psychotherapeutic practice. At the same time, she continually seeks balance between her different worlds, being a multifaceted musician, dog lover, and admirer of tango and nature.

She studied psychology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and earned her master’s degree in 2016 after conducting a research internship in Belgium (Center for Social and Cultural Psychology, University of Leuven). She continued her studies in transactional analysis at the Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy and Counseling (IPSA). In 2017, she enrolled in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Humanities and Social Sciences (specializing in Social Science Methodology) at the University of Ljubljana.

At IPSA, she completed advanced training in transactional analysis (TA-202), mindfulness training, and the first level of EMDR in 2019, and in 2023, she earned her PhD from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Since 2017, she has worked as a junior researcher and later as an assistant with a PhD at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) on projects related to mental health, methodology, and psychosocial support. During this time, she also gave guest lectures abroad, including in Germany, Spain, Norway, and China.

Maja has been providing psychotherapeutic treatment under regular supervision for eight years, focusing on working with adults and vulnerable groups such as asylum seekers, refugees, the LGBT+ community, and parents of children with special needs. She also runs a private psychotherapy practice in Ljubljana and is an active member of a professional group for refugees at the Slovenian Umbrella Association for Psychotherapy.

She lectures in three academic programs: the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts UL, the School for Psychosocial Assistance and Counseling at FUDŠ, and the European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations. Additionally, she mentors students in practical training, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations.
