Assessments for Admission to a Higher year Based on Transition Criteria

Procedure for Assessing Eligibility for Admission to a Higher Year Based on Transition Criteria Between Study Programs

The conditions for direct admission to a higher year of the selected study program are published in individual enrolment calls, which can be found at the provided link.

Before enrolling in a higher year of the study program, the faculty office staff will assess the admission possibilities and, together with the head of the department of the selected study program, conduct an evaluation based on the previously completed obligations from the first study program.

The conditions are further detailed in the Transition Criteria Between Study Programs.

Scope of Recognized Completed Academic Obligations

  • Direct admission to the second year based on the transition criteria between study programs is possible if the candidate has at least 45 ECTS credits from the previous study program of the same level. At least half of these credits must relate to acquired competencies or learning outcomes that are comparable to the competencies or learning outcomes of the mandatory courses in the second study program the candidate wishes to enrol in.
  • Direct admission to the third year based on the transition criteria between study programs is possible if the candidate has at least 105 ECTS credits from the previous study program. At least half of these credits must relate to acquired competencies or learning outcomes that are comparable to the competencies or learning outcomes of the mandatory courses in the second study program.

*** For third-cycle (PhD) programs, additional requirements under the transition criteria include:

  • For direct admission to the second year: Prior submission of the doctoral dissertation proposal in the first or second study program.
  • For direct admission to the third year: Prior approval of the doctoral dissertation proposal in the first or second study program.
  • Decisions on transitions between study programs at the first and second levels are made by the Student and Academic Affairs Commission (KŠŠZ), while transitions at the third level are decided by the Scientific Research Commission (KZRD).

The meetings of these commissions are scheduled for every third Monday of the month.
