The goal of the project “Analysis of the Effectiveness of Innovative and Flexible Learning Methods in Different Cultural Environments” is to include visiting foreign experts in the teaching process and research activities at the Faculty of Applied Social Studies in Nova Gorica. During the project, we will host experts from abroad with the aim of applying various innovative and flexible learning methods in different cultural environments (through the use of virtual classrooms) and, above all, identifying which innovative and flexible learning methods are most effective among young people in the Slovenian environment and promoting their implementation; comparing innovative and flexible learning methods in different countries or cultural environments. By identifying the most effective innovative and flexible learning methods in a particular study environment and implementing them, young people will gain numerous new knowledge, skills and competencies, while at the same time they will be encouraged to lifelong learning through new and fresh forms of teaching and learning. The flexibility of teaching and learning methods will help young people better recognize their greatest potentials, enabling better career orientation for them.

On June 10, 2021, at 1:00 pm, an event will be held on the topic of effective flexible teaching and learning methods. Teaching methods, didactic and pedagogical approaches of visiting foreign experts as part of the Analysis of the Effectiveness of Innovative and Flexible Learning Methods in Different Cultural Environments project, obtained on the basis of the Call for Short and Long-term visits of foreign experts and lecturers to Slovenian Higher Education Institutions 2019-2022, will be presented. PRESENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES OF A VISITING FOREIGN EXPERT
In March, Dr. Leo Mršić concluded his longer stay as a visiting foreign expert. At the end of his visit, which initially took place in person but later moved to a virtual mode of delivery due to the epidemiological situation, we organized a virtual event on March 3, 2021, entitled “Presentation of International Experience of Visiting Foreign Expert.” The event showcased the visiting expert’s international experience, including the description of the use of various teaching methods in different academic environments and the description of their intercultural experiences in the pedagogical process. Guidelines and content trends in research at the visiting foreign expert’s institution, as well as their latest findings and publications, were also presented. In this way, the transfer of good practices from abroad to the domestic environment was ensured.

All students of all study programs are invited to participate in a virtual classroom conducted in cooperation with the University of Sheffield, led by visiting expert Dr. Peter Verovšek. The virtual classroom will focus on innovative and flexible learning methods that are most effective for young people in various academic environments. The virtual classroom will include shared learning materials, student work, the exchange of ideas and visions of study, reflections of students on the work of other students, and comments. INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL CLASSROOM (28.10.2020)
VAll students from all study programs are kindly invited to participate in a virtual classroom, which will be conducted in collaboration with Algebra University College. It will be led by visiting expert Dr. Leo Mršić. The virtual classroom will focus on innovative and flexible learning methods that are most effective for young people in different study environments. It will include shared learning materials, student work, exchange of ideas and visions of study, reflections of students on the work of other students and comments. GUEST LECTURE BY DR. LEA MRŠIĆA (10. 10. 2020)
In October, Dr. Leo Mršić began a longer guest lecture at FUDŠ, coming from Algebra University College in Zagreb. Dr. Mršić will be a guest at FUDŠ for five months and during this time, he will teach at various levels of study and study programs. Students will be able to attend the following lectures: Management of Financial Resources, Qualitative Research in Social Sciences, Modern Theories in Economic Sociology, Methods of Triangulation.
Dr. Mršić je avtor in soavtor več knjig, znanstvenih in strokovnih člankov, sodelavec na številnih projektih.Dr. Leo Mršić is the Vice-Dean for Research and Development and Head of the Data Analysis Department at Algebra University College in Zagreb, very active as a lecturer in the eLeadership MBA program. Dr. Mršić also works as a permanent court expert in the field of finance, accounting and information technology. With more than 20 years of experience in leadership, he has participated in the launch of three start-up initiatives. Dr. Mršić is the author and co-author of several books, scientific and professional articles, and a collaborator on numerous projects.
Dr. Mršić started his guest lectures at the Faculty’s signpost, where he presented an introductory lecture to doctoral students.

Dr. Peter Verovšek was a guest at FUDŠ as part of the project “Analysis of the Effectiveness of Innovative and Flexible Learning Methods in Different Cultural Environments”. The guest lecture took place from 19.12.2019 to 22.12.2019. As part of his visit, Dr. Verovšek taught the course Modern Theories in the Sociology of Culture as part of the Sociology doctoral program. Dr. Peter Verovšek is an associate professor of political science and international relations. He received his PhD in political science from Yale University in the United States. After his doctorate, he taught social sciences at Harvard University for three years, and since 2016, he has been employed at the University of Sheffield in the Department of Political Science and International Relations.
