Dear students and everyone else, welcome to the School of Advanced Social Studies!

The enrollment procedure is already in full swing. We are convinced that you are all eagerly waiting to become proud students of the School of Advanced Social Studies.

Firstly, we would like to kindly invite you to the introductory days, which are extremely important for you, as you will get all the necessary information you need for a carefree start to your studies.

The introductory days will be held online. Despite the topic, we promise that you will have a pleasant, educational and fun time in our company. We kindly ask you to attend the introductory meetings as part of your regular study obligations.


MONDAY, 3.10.2022 at 17.00 – LINK


At the beginning of the new academic year, you will first be greeted by the leadership of the faculty, dean prof. dr. Borut Rončević, vice-dean for Study and Student Affairs, assoc. prof. Petra Kleindienst, and the vice-dean for Scientific Research, assoc. prof. Tamara Besednjak Valič.

Students will follow the virtual greeting via the platform Zoom, which will allow you to interact and ask any questions.

LET NOTHING SURPRISE YOU DURING YOUR STUDIES – for all first-time enrolled students at all three levels

At the interactive presentation, you will get to know the technical assisstants of the faculty, who will also offer you support during your studies in the new study year.

The presentation will take place in the following order:

  • Head of the department for study and student affairs, Natali Vuk Birsa, will introduce you to the legal sources of the faculty, the procedure for applying for exams and special features of the timetable, and will give answers to frequently asked questions.
  • The presentation will be continued by the administrator of the Moodle learning environment, Tjaša Peršič.
  • On an introductory day, with the help of the Head of the Career Center, Andreja Slejko Rojc, you will also learn about the Tutoring System, the activities of the Student Council, study practice and other extracurricular activities at the faculty.
  • At the very conclusion, you will also be greeted by the Head of the Project Office, mag. Jasmina Jakomin, who will present you the possibilities of study exchanges within the framework of Erasmus+ and Cmepius and present you the possibilities of inclusion; prof.dr.Matevž Tomšič will present one of the current projects implemented at the faculty, namely the MELIA Observatory project, which deals with the issue of media literacy in connection with the active civic engagement of young people.

INTRODUCTORY DOCTORAL MEETING – for all doctoral students

At the introductory doctoral meeting, there will be a presentation of the study process, study regulations, forms, subjects and databases. You will also get to know research programs and lecturers and mentors. More about the program in the attachment.

*MESSAGE for (future) students of the study programs Media and Journalism, Media and Journalism, Strategic Communication (MAG), Strategic Communication and Management (DR): The Faculty of Media is in the process of joining the Faculty of Applied Social Studies . Students of the Faculty of Media will become students of the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica on 1st October 2022. The conditions that apply to students upon enrollment in the study programs of the Faculty of Media do not change with the merger.
