The main goal of postgraduate programme of Intercultural management is for students to get acquainted with cultural dynamics of contemporary societies where contacts between different cultural-valuable systems at different levels of life are and important element thereof. Adequate interdisciplinary theoretical and practical knowledge is given to students to be able to recognise the contacts and the consequence of such interaction. The competence to effectively operate in such an environment is of extreme importance and the student gaining an MA in Intercultural management has the knowledge to operate in intercultural environment and to effectively manage to overcome cultural differences. Among general knowledge on intercultural relations in modern globalised society students also gain specific knowledge which will make their professional work in institutionalised environment like the EU or other international institutions or multinational enterprises a lot easier. In this context there is of extreme importance the knowledge on cultural aspects of EU enlargement.
The Intercultural Management course aims towards studying already mentioned intercultural relations and their management at the fields of economy, politics, science and education but also at the field of civil society. The main objects of interest are therefore the contacts on institutional, non-institutional and personal level. A special emphasis is on intercultural relations in the light of the European integration and its consequences for »cultural landscape« of European place. The everyday relations between »old« and »new« member states actors occur within the EU institutions but also within economic enterprises and with cooperation between political and civic organisations. The compatibility among all these actors is of extreme importance for the future of integrating Europe.
The important contents of the course:
- Distinctions of cultural dynamics of contemporary societies;
- »Cultural map« of the world or different cultural-value zones;
- Distinctions of »field cultures« (economic-business, political, scientific-academia culture);
- Joined European identity and values;
- Patterns of intercultural communication;
- Cultural changes context of European integration;
- Cultural consequences of such changes (the question of cohabitation of »western« and »eastern« culture, cultural melting or creating new cultural hybrids, potential intercultural conflicts);
- Civilisational competence in Eastern and Central Europe (culture as the impetus of development or barrier for it);
- Relations among cultures and religions;
all this in the light of capability of managing intercultural relations.
