dr. Dejan Valentinčič, Assistant Professor

Research fields: 
minority law and policies, migration law and policies, actual migration trends, brain circulation, inter-ethnic integration, the status of Slovenes abroad and minorities in Slovenia

Dr. Dejan Valentinčič obtained both his LL.B degree and LL.M degree with honours from the European School of Law in Nova Gorica and his PhD from the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica (supervisor Prof. Dr sc. Nikolai Genov, co-supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr Jernej Letnar Černič). He is employeed as the Director of the Institute ASEF, where they research actual migration trends, brain circulation and are connecting Slovenian researchers and students with academics of Slovenian origin, who work abroad. In the past years he was also lecturing and researching at Harvard University - Center for European Studies, Santa Clara University, Cleveland State University, all USA, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Argentina in Buenos Aires and in Australia. His research is primarily based on Slovenians outside the Slovenia and minorities living in Slovenia. He is the author of research monograph “Resia: A valley and its people between Slovenian, Italian and its own identity” and many scientific articles and papers.
